epoch·time
Privacy Policy
Epoch has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. The app itself makes no network requests of any kind. Everything you type or convert stays on your device. The only third party involved is Google, which serves the banner ad in the free version — and buying Epoch Pro removes that entirely.
What stays on your device
Epoch stores a small amount of data locally, in your device's app storage. None of it is transmitted anywhere, and it is not readable by us or anyone else:
- Your list of favourite time zones.
- Whether you have unlocked Epoch Pro.
- A one-time flag recording that your favourites were migrated to shared storage.
Timestamps you enter are converted in memory and are never written to storage or sent off the device.
What we don't collect
We do not collect, receive, store, or have any means of accessing:
- Your name, email address, or any account identifier — there are no accounts.
- The values you convert.
- Your location.
- Usage or crash analytics. Epoch contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
Clipboard
Tapping PASTE reads your clipboard so the pasted value can be converted, and tapping a copy button writes a value to your clipboard. Both happen only in response to your tap, the contents are used immediately and not retained, and the clipboard is never read in the background.
Purchases
Epoch Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. Epoch asks Apple whether your Apple Account owns the unlock and caches a single yes/no flag on your device. Apple's handling of that transaction is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Advertising — free version only
The free version shows one banner advertisement, served by Google AdMob using the Google Mobile Ads SDK. To serve it, Google may collect and process data such as your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device type and operating system, and interactions with the ad. This data is handled by Google, not by us — we receive only aggregate earnings figures and never see anything about an individual user.
How Google uses this data is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. You can review the ad technology providers Google works with at Google's list of advertising partners.
Buying Epoch Pro removes advertising completely. For Pro users the ads SDK is never started and no ad request is ever made.
Your consent choices
In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, Epoch presents a consent form, powered by Google's User Messaging Platform, before any ad is requested. Your choice determines whether ads are personalised, and no advertising data is processed until you have answered it.
App Tracking Transparency. On iOS, Epoch asks for permission to track you across apps and websites. We deliberately ask after your first successful conversion rather than at launch, so the request arrives with some context. Declining does not disable the app or the ad — it means the ad you see is less relevant. You can change your answer at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking on your device.
Children
Epoch is a developer utility and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Deleting your data
Because all app data is stored locally, deleting Epoch from your device removes it permanently. Your Epoch Pro purchase is tied to your Apple Account rather than the device, so it can be restored with Restore Purchases after reinstalling.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
